This is CLEAN SLATE, a literally very clean way to perform a spirit slate effect without mess or fuss.

EFFECT: Two slates are shown. (Each slate is about 3 inches by 4 inches in size. Perfect to fit in a pocket.)   Each slate is wiped clean. A participant signs one slate and the other is left blank. Both slates are held between the participant's hands with no funny moves. When the performer shows the slates, the participant's signature is seen on one slate, but the other slate has a message from the spirits (or telepathy, or PK or?)

EFFECT TWO: After the slates are cleaned they are placed in an envelope to be "in the dark" and held by the performer at the fingertips.  Any word, 3 digit number, or initials are called out. When the slates are removed, one slate has written on it the called out numbers or letters.

EFFECT THREE: The slates are first cleaned and then covered by a napkin or cleaning cloth. Then they are held in the performer's hands. A name is asked for to conjure a spirit. Soon writing is heard to happen on the slates. When the slates are uncovered and separated the conjured spirit has written something but it is hard to read. "It's a message from the other side. They have a different perspective. Here..." says the performer, who holds up a mirror. The writing is seen clearly now, as it was written "in reverse" or "backwards" on the slate!

EFFECT FOUR: During walk around or table hopping you find out it is someone's birthday. Or you overhear them wishing someone was there at the table with them. You use the slates to "get in the spirit" of the person or the celebration, and the name of the person, or a "HAPPY BIRTHDAY JON!" message appears. And yes, if you want, the slates can reveal a chosen word, symbol, or playing card too.

EFFECT FIVE: Two slates are shown and the mentalists goes into a "trance" writing on one of the slates. The slates are put together and bounded with rubber bands, then sealed in an envelope, box, etc. The mentalist claims not to know what was written exactly, only that it is the winner of a particular election. (It could be about a lot of other things!)  When the election is over the slates are opened and checked. The prediction written on the slate correctly identifies the winner of the election. There are no switches of envelopes. Only the two slates are used. There are no strange movements or sleights when the slates are taken apart and shown.

EFFECT SIX: The performer makes a single dot of chalk on a slate. The slates are put together and a participant rolls a die as often as they wish. When they decide to stop, the number on the bottom of the die is noted by the participant. No one else looks at it. The slates are open. The single dot of chalk has now become the number of dots, and the exact arrangement of dots, that are found to be on the bottom of the die. This happens in real time. The performer uses no other gimmicks than the two slates.

EFFECT SEVEN: After the slates are erased and put together, a participant states their name. The slates are shown to contain her very name! The slates are put back together, without erasing anything, and the participant is told to name just the initials of someone she is very close to, or likes a lot. The slates are separated and now, in place of her name are the initials of her close friend! This can be done in full view, without the slates hidden under a cover or anything else.

Really, once  you see how easy it is to work this, you'll find countless ways you will use this very clean prop.
